POTTERY WORKSHOP
Set in the middle of the Suffolk countryside, the aspiration of this project was to provide a low-embodied carbon art studio where the client could work in recluse. We designed a lightweight timber frame building supported on recycled brick plinths and limecrete foundations.
Locally sourced straw bales coated with a lime render were used as wall infills to stiffen the frame against racking. An outdoor dining space was constructed out of roundwood with the natural quality of the material visually expressed to reinforce the bucolic atmosphere.
